The OG Digital Garage: The Pinstriper.com Story
How did Pinstriper.com start?
In 1998, the internet was a frontier of dial-up tones and static pages. For founder Tony Perez, it was an opportunity to bridge the gap between the traditional, analog world of custom car art and the emerging digital age. While the rest of the world was just figuring out email, Tony acquired Pinstriper.com, establishing the industry’s very first digital home for pinstripers. “Tonys Website”
From VHS Tapes to Global Distribution

Before YouTube tutorials, pinstriping knowledge was a closely guarded secret passed down at car shows and “Letterhead” meets. Pinstriper.com changed that. In the early days, we were the go-to source for technical education, shipping out VHS tapes and books to artists who didn’t have a local mentor.
Back then, “e-commerce” meant customers emailing their credit card numbers (the Wild West!) and Tony hand-processing every single transaction through a physical terminal. It was labor-intensive, but it built a personal connection with the community that still exists today.
Preserving the Human Touch
As the site grew, so did our inventory. We became a primary distributor for legends like Andrew Mack & Son Brush Co., Cosmo and Kafka brushes, eventually housing the largest inventory of professional pinstriping brushes in the world.
While technology has moved from VHS to instant streaming, our core values haven’t changed. We believe that tools should serve the artist, not replace the artistry. Whether you are a seasoned pro or a beginner picking up a sword striper for the first time, we are here to provide the authentic materials that keep this timeless craft alive.
