The OG Digital Garage: The Pinstriper.com Story

How Did Pinstriper.com Start?

Pinstriping Supplies Since 1998 | Our story-In 1998, the internet was still in its infancy, filled with dial-up connections, simple web pages, and endless possibilities. While many businesses were just beginning to explore the World Wide Web, Tony Perez saw an opportunity to connect artists in a way that had never been done before. As a lifelong pinstriper and custom automotive artist, Tony understood the challenges of finding quality pinstriping supplies, professional brushes, paints, and educational resources. Information was scattered, products were difficult to locate, and artists often relied on word of mouth, magazines, or local connections to learn the craft.

Recognizing the potential of the internet, Tony acquired Pinstriper.com with a clear vision: to create the industry’s first online destination dedicated entirely to hand-pa

inted pinstriping. His goal wasn’t simply to sell products—it was to build a place where artists of every skill level could discover the best tools, learn new techniques, and become part of a growing community that shared a passion for traditional craftsmanship.

Drawing on decades of experience in the custom automotive industry, Tony carefully selected the products he personally trusted and used. Every brush, paint, tool, and accessory added to the website reflected the same standards he expected in his own work. This commitment to quality quickly earned the trust of professional pinstripers, sign painters, custom painters, and hobbyists across the United States and around the world.

As the internet continued to evolve, so did Pinstriper.com. What began as a pioneering website soon became one of the most recognized online resources for pinstriping supplies, automotive pinstriping brushes, lettering tools, custom paint products, and educational content. Throughout that growth, one thing never changed—the belief that hand-painted pinstriping is an art form worth preserving and passing on to future generations.

Today, Pinstriper.com continues that original mission by providing premium products, educational resources, and support for artists everywhere. More than two decades after its founding, the website remains dedicated to helping beginners take their first steps while giving experienced professionals access to the high-quality tools they rely on every day. From classic hot rods and motorcycles to lowriders, signs, and custom artwork, Pinstriper.com continues to serve the artists who keep this timeless tradition alive.  “Tonys Website”

From VHS Tapes to Global Distribution

Before YouTube tutorials, pinstriping knowledge was a closely guarded secret passed down at car shows and “Letterhead” meets. Pinstriper.com changed that. In the early days, we were the go-to source for technical education, shipping out VHS tapes and books to artists who didn’t have a local mentor.

Back then, “e-commerce” meant customers emailing their credit card numbers (the Wild West!) and Tony hand-processing every single transaction through a physical terminal. It was labor-intensive, but it built a personal connection with the community that still exists today.

Preserving the Human Touch

As Pinstriper.com continued to grow, so did our passion for providing the very best tools to the pinstriping community. What started as a small selection of products has evolved into one of the largest collections of professional pinstriping supplies available anywhere. We are proud to be a trusted distributor for legendary manufacturers such as Andrew Mack Brush Company, Kafka Brushes, and Cosmo Brushes, offering one of the world’s largest inventories of professional pinstriping and lettering brushes.

Over the years, we’ve witnessed incredible changes in technology. We’ve gone from learning pinstriping through VHS tapes and printed magazines to online tutorials, social media, and instant streaming videos. While the way artists learn has evolved, the art of hand-painted pinstriping remains timeless. Nothing can replace the skill, creativity, and personal expression that comes from a brush guided by an artist’s hand.

At Pinstriper.com, we believe technology should inspire artists—not replace them. Every brush, paint, tool, and supply we offer is carefully selected to help artists develop their skills and create work they can be proud of. Whether you’re restoring a classic hot rod, customizing a motorcycle, lettering a sign, painting a lowrider, or adding decorative scrollwork, we’re committed to providing products that perform when it matters most.

Our mission extends beyond simply selling supplies. We are dedicated to preserving the traditions of hand-painted pinstriping while helping the next generation of artists learn and grow. Through educational articles, product guides, tutorials, and community support, we strive to make the craft more accessible to beginners while continuing to serve experienced professionals who have spent decades perfecting their skills.

Whether you’re picking up a sword striper for the very first time or you’ve been laying down clean lines for years, you’ll find the tools, knowledge, and support you need here. Every order represents more than just a sale—it represents another artist helping keep this unique craft alive.

At Pinstriper.com, our commitment has always been simple: provide the highest-quality pinstriping supplies, share knowledge with the community, and help preserve the tradition of hand-painted pinstriping for generations to come. Since 1998, that mission has remained at the heart of everything we do.
