Alien Deathhawk Hanson/Mack Pinstriping Brush

The Alien Deathhawk is Todd Hanson’s second collaboration with Andrew Mack & Son Brush Company — built as a direct companion to his King 13, sharing every spec except the hair itself. Where the King 13 uses Chinese Blue Squirrel hair, the Alien Deathhawk is made from European dressed blue squirrel hair, a naturally stiffer fiber that gives the brush more body and noticeably less droop when it’s fully loaded with paint. That added firmness makes it a favorite for pinstripers who want the King 13’s precision but prefer a slightly stiffer feel underhand, especially for extended work sessions with a heavily loaded brush.

Like its sibling, the Alien Deathhawk carries more taper than a traditional Mack striper, giving it a wider spread and sharper pull for improved turning control. The smallest sizes (5/0, 3/0) use a 60mm hair length for a total of 1 3/4″, while the 00 uses a 65mm hair for a full 2″ length. Mack’s technicians also carry over the King 13’s distinctive build process — mounting the smaller sizes on larger handles (the 5/0 and 000 on a #00 handle, the 00 on a #0 handle) to distribute the hair over more surface area, which is what gives this brush its signature control and taper.
