Hanson/Mack King 13 pinstriping brush-The King 13 is the result of a collaboration between Andrew Mack & Son Brush Company and renowned pinstriper Todd Hanson — a design he personally used and refined over 15 years before bringing it into the Mack family lineup. Todd’s contribution to the craft earned him Award #3 in the Pinstripers Hall of Fame, and the King 13 reflects everything he learned about what a striping brush should do in the hands of a working pinstriper.

Made from Chinese Blue Squirrel hair, the King 13 is built with more taper than a traditional Mack striper, giving it a wider spread and a sharper pull for tighter turning control — ideal for artists who want extra precision on fine detail work, scrollwork, and intricate line transitions. The construction is genuinely unique in the lineup: rather than following the standard hair-to-handle ratio used on the Series 10 or 20, Mack’s technicians apply roughly 10% less hair per size and distribute it over a larger handle surface — for example, the smallest sizes are built on a #00 handle instead of the expected smaller mount. That shift in proportions is what gives the King 13 its signature taper and control.

Hair length runs 1 3/4″ on the smallest sizes (7/0, 5/0, 000) and 1 7/8″–2″ on the larger sizes (00, 0, 1), so you get a brush tuned for genuinely fine, detailed work across its whole size range — from the tiniest hairline detail up to more standard striping widths.
